More than half-a-million pounds was raised in just 36-hours by a Jewish education group for its new home.

1,200 donors helped Torah Action Life reach its target in the ‘Building 4 Life’ campaign, allowing it to move into premises in Finchley Road, the former site of Delisserie.

The site, which is still in need of major renovation, was fitted with phones and computers as the fundraising campaign was launched at 10am on Sunday 17 March.

Volunteers asked for donations with ‘energy and passion’, while TAL also raised money during a stint at the Jewish News Big Family Show and Expo attended by over 6,000 people. Contributions to the campaign were matched by generous donors, helping the eventual figure up £540,070 by Wednesday.

Rabbi Jonathan Tawil, who founded TAL nine years ago and is its director said: “We are deeply grateful to G-d for blessing us with such amazing TAL members many of whom have felt the TAL impact personally on their Jewish life journey.”

The new TAL centre has been built with our hearts and with G-ds help will be a beacon for the wider community. Thanks to all who supported us in this important project and we look forward to welcoming you to London’s new address!”
