More than 830 new items added to kosher food list

Products range from chocolate, medicines, dairy-free and gluten free items, with the overall list now exceeding 8,000

Some of the nation’s favourite chocolates and sweets  are among 830 new items that have been listed as kosher for the first time.

The latest Really Jewish Food Guide 2022 by the Kashrut division of the London Beth Din (KLBD) now includes more than 8,000 products which are suitable for the community.

Among new additions are treats such as M&M’s chocolate, crispy and brownie items, as well as – Twix, Snickers Creamy Peanut Butter and Bendicks Mint Fondants. Two new loafs from Warburtons were given he green light for consumption, with other products ranging from dairy-free and gluten-free items, alcohol and medicines.

Rabbi Jeremy Conway, Director of the KLBD, said: “To the Rabbis and researchers and all those involved in this complex project, as well as everyone in the KLBD Kashrut team, my profound thanks and appreciation.

“The recent past has been challenging for everyone and in particular for our dedicated Shomrim and Inspectors. We salute their dedicated work which has continued for many throughout the pandemic. We also empathise with our caterers and restaurants who face testing circumstances. May 2022 bring blessing, good health and prosperity for all our community.”
