Labour anti-Semitism Labour's troubles continue after suspension following tweet

Labour member suspended for claiming Jews behind Britain’s wars

More trouble for Jeremy Corbyn's party as Tower Hamlets Campaign Officer tweets 'neo-Nazi propaganda'

Another Labour Party member in London has been suspended after tweeting a link to a “vile” anti-Semitic time-line arguing that Jews were behind Britain’s wars and the overthrow of the monarchs.

Tower Hamlets member Musabbir Ali, who tweets from @mosabbir, lists himself as a Labour Party Campaign Officer on his Facebook profile, and was the chair of Spitalfields and Banglatown Labour Party.

He tweeted a blog entry called: ‘Timeline of the Jewish Genocide of the British People,’ a timeline which accuses Jews of “financing Oliver Cromwell’s other-throwing and beheading of Stuart King Charles I after he refused them control of England’s finances” and of “engineering WWI and all future wars.”

One Twitter user wrote: “You have tweeter actual neo-Nazi propaganda and much more vile anti-Semitism. Please resign and stop shaming my party.”

Following a complaint to the Jewish Labour Movement [JLM], Ali was suspended on Thursday, pending further investigation.

A JLM spokesperson told Jewish News: “The party has acted in a swift and appropriate manner. We await the results of the investigation with interest. There must be zero tolerance for the promotion of race hate by social media in the Labour Party.”

It is the latest instance of the party having to suspend someone’s membership following reports of anti-Semitic comments, a phenomenon which appears to have followed Jeremy Corbyn’s election as leader last year. An inquiry led by former Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti is expected to establish guidance on the issue.
