Thousands of members of the UK Jewish community helped raise more than £1.17 million for vulnerable Israelis during Myisrael’s latest fundraising campaign, exceeding its target with hours still remaining.

The charity’s 36-hour Match Fund Campaign, titled It Starts With You, brought together 3,340 donors and 153 fundraising champions to support grassroots projects across Israel, helping people affected by trauma, bereavement, poverty and mental health challenges.

Myisrael said its original £1 million target was reached at around 4.30pm on Monday, more than four hours before the campaign closed, with donations continuing to rise throughout the evening.

The funds will be distributed to a range of causes supporting children experiencing trauma, soldiers living with PTSD, teenagers struggling with mental health difficulties and families facing financial hardship.

Danni Franks, CEO and founder of Myisrael, said: “As antisemitism and fear continue to affect Jewish communities in the UK and around the world, this campaign demonstrates that our bond with Israel feels more important than ever. I’m completely blown away by what we achieved together. After almost three years of war, the need remains immense, and this support will make a real difference to thousands of vulnerable people across Israel.”

The campaign was backed by 38 match funders, who pledged to double donations, and included community awareness initiatives such as the distribution of 10,000 challah stickers.

Among those taking part was fundraising champion Claude Vecht-Wolf, who said: “It was such a wonderful experience, enabling people to do mitzvot in this way. I love that Myisrael backs under-the-radar projects that truly make an impact. Seeing so many people come together was incredibly inspiring. It was a privilege to be involved in this campaign.”

Founded in 2008, Myisrael supports smaller charities and community initiatives across Israel, focusing on individuals and families facing hardship who may otherwise struggle to access support. The organisation says it has raised more than £18 million since its launch and has supported more than 65 causes.
