Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi suspended by Labour again over banned organisation speech

Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi has been suspended by Labour again over a speech at an event run by an organisation now banned by the party.

The Jewish Voice For Labour co-founder confirmed she hadreceived a notice of allegation and administrative suspension from Labour over an appearance at an event last September.

It is understood the charge relates to a speech given by the pro-Jeremy Corbyn activist at an event organised by the proscribed Resist group, who are led by the  disgraced former MP Chris Williamson, in Brighton on September 26th 2021.

Resist were one of the four far-left organisations banned by Labour in July 2021 for downplaying and denying antisemitism claims in the party.

The suspension means Wimborne-Idrissi is unable to take up her place on Labour’s NEC, who meet next week at the party’s annual conference in Liverpool.

Labour’s action against Wimborne-Idrissiv comes just a day after Jewish News told how she had claimed in a podcast that Holocaust deniers were being given a green light by the party because they were not left-wingers.

Party sources told Jewish News her claims were “pure fantasy.”

Meanwhile in an appearance on LBC on Thursday , Lord John Mann recalled comments made by Wimborne-Idrissi in 2018 when she questioned his revelation, made in the Commons, that his wife had received rape threats as a result of the antisemitism crisis in the party.

Lord Mann said that unless Wimborne-Idrissi provided evidence to prove his comments were false, she should be removed from her position on Labour’s NEC.

It has also emerged that Wimborne-Idrissi is appearing an a new programme on Labour being made by the Qatari-backed Al Jazeera television channel, that once again questions the extend of Labour’s antisemitism crisis.

Seven Jewish Labour members have been targeted by the programme makers, who have faced claims of “harassment” against the group.

Wimborne-Idrissi has previously been suspended by Labour over her conduct towards Jewish members at a meeting of the Chingford and Woodford Green local party, when she was vice-chair.

But the suspension was lifted with her receiving a warning about her conduct.

Wimborne-Idrissi was elected onto Labour’s 40 person  NEC after winning the support of hard-left activists in an internal party election decided by single transferable vote system.

Confirming her latest suspension on Twitter, the JVL media officer wrote:”Admin Suspension means I can’t attend AGM of the NEC, to which I have just been elected, at Liverpool conference next week. No link of course to my appearance in @AJIunit’s #LabourFiles series exposing multiple abuses within Labour.

“Solidarity with all the many, many left delegates to conference and other comrades who have been expelled or suspended in recent days and weeks..What a travesty of democracy! “
