TV newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky is to narrate the online remembrance ceremony on Sunday to honour thousands of Jews killed in battle.

Kaplinsky will voice the annual AJEX event, which is having to take place digitally owing to coronavirus restrictions.

“We have worked with the help of many across the community and beyond to create an online ceremony that does justice to a key event that has been held since the 1930’s,” said new AJEX chief executive Fiona Palmer.

“This weekend we are determined to communicate the importance of remembrance and the strength that it can give in such a time of crisis. We’re extremely grateful to Natasha for kindly donating her time.”

In addition, Palmer said it had been “so moving” to see the photos of Jewish war veterans shared throughout week, ahead of the ceremony, which would normally take place at The Cenotaph in London.
