Netanyahu and Rivlin wish Trump a speedy recovery after positive Covid test

Israel's prime minister and head of state both took to social media to say they are thinking of the President and First Lady of the United States

Israel’s political leaders have wished US president Donald Trump and First Lady Melania a speedy recovery, after they both tested positive for coronavirus and are in quarantine.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin both took to social media to send good wishes, after Trump announced his diagnosis in a tweet in the early hours of Friday, following a positive test from one of his closest aides, Hope Hicks.

Netanyahu said: “Like millions of Israelis, Sara and I are thinking of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump and wish our friends a full and speedy recovery.”


President Reuven Rivlin tweeted: “On behalf of the Israeli people, our thoughts and wishes are with President Trump and the First Lady for a Refua Shlema, a swift and full recovery. ”


His Covid-19 diagnosis is the latest among world leaders, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson admitted to intensive care after contracting the disease.

Johnson tweeted: “My best wishes to President Trump and the First Lady. Hope they both have a speedy recovery from coronavirus.”
