Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the country has once again shown that “in the moments we’re tested, they know we know how to unite, repel our enemies and protect our country.”

Speaking before his weekly cabinet meeting, he was talking less than 24 hours after the country’s military struck key Iranian sites in Syria.

Saying that Israel “will continue to harm anyone who attempts to harm us”, he reiterated how this had been Israel’s policy in the past, and would remain so now.

Also revealing how he had spoken to the pilot of the F-16, who was slightly wounded, he added: “I was glad to hear that he was on his feet, literally, and I was glad to hear that the pilot [who was seriously wounded] had improved.”
