A Netflix love coach has said ‘Yes’ to helping Jewish singles find partners as part of a new European matchmaking scheme running 4th to 10th August.

World-class relationship expert Aleeza Ben-Shalom, the star of 2023’s Netflix series ‘Jewish Matchmaking’, has been on call to support the future of global Jewry.

On Tuesday 22nd July, the shadchanit (matchmaker) appeared remotely on Zoom to address representatives of more than 30 communities in a meeting initiated by the Conference of European Rabbis, in cooperation with the Jewish Matchmaking Movement and World Mizrachi.

In 10 days, after the fast of Tisha B’Av, European Matchmaking Week will run dozens of events across countries including Germany, France, Italy and the UK to raise awareness of Jewish marriage and ways to help Jewish singles find their partners.

The events will culminate with a special Shabbat Tu B’Av, often referred to as the Jewish “Valentines Day,” and historically allocated to finding a spouse.

Rabbi Avichai Appel, Chief Rabbi of Frankfurt and vice president of the Conference, said: “There is no doubt that this is a very important task, and we appreciate everyone involved in this and encourage more and more communities to help the next generation.”
