‘Neurotic’ Dad takes out advert looking for ‘willing’ wife for his son

Unmarried 48-year old Baron Brooks found a picture of himself in a full page ad of a paper

Jewish unmarried men pestered to within an inch of their sanity by parents who want them to get wed and have kids this week realised someone else had it far worse, after a Jewish dad took out a full-page advert for a “willing” wife for his son.

One can only feel for Baron Brooks, 48, who lives in Salt Lake City, when he found a photo of himself in a full-page newspaper ad, posted without Baron’s knowledge or consent, titled: ‘Looking for a Wife.’

His 78-year old California-based father, Arthur, who Baron described as “nuts” and “neurotic,” took the unusual step earlier this month, appealing for a wife who is “ready, willing and able to have children as soon as possible”.

Arthur further outlined that she: a) must move to Salt Lake City b) must not have voted for U.S. President Barack Obama c) must be attractive “being height and weight proportional” d) must not be taller than 5 ft. 8 in, as Baron is only 5 ft. 5 in. Desirable criteria included her being 34-38 years old and previously unmarried. The question of her religion was more flexible, being left “open”.

To top it all, Arthur wrote (as if Baron): “I have asked my father to screen people for me. He will be at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. You may call for an interview on my behalf. When calling, ask for Arthur Brooks.”

Baron, who owns two health food stores, told the Spokesman-Review newspaper: “I can’t even describe to you how embarrassing and ridiculous this is.”

Despite the obvious rift and tension, his father insisted that he still planned to go ahead with the interviews, saying: “It can’t hurt. Who the hell knows?”
