The leadership development division of the Jewish Leadership Council has appointed a new director to replace Nicky Goldman, who is moving on to head up the Jewish Volunteering Network next year.

Michelle Janes, a former operations manager at Masorti Judaism, will now become the new executive director of Lead from the new year, after being promoted from her current position as Lead’s director of programmes and consultancy.

JLC chief executive Simon Johnson said: “We are delighted that succession planning within the organisation has proven to be effective. This is a huge vote of confidence in the existing Lead team.”

The JLC’s leadership development division counts several high-profile names among its alumni, including the current Board of Deputies president Marie van der Zyl, and Danny Stone, the director of the Antisemitism Policy Trust.

Janes said she was “thrilled” to get the job, adding: “There is so much potential impact that Lead can have… I look forward to working with inspirational leaders through their individual and shared journeys.”
