New national chair announced by AJEX

Staff Sgt Dan Fox will take over from Mike Bluestone at the helm, saying the organisation was an 'important and historic part of our nation’s Jewish and military communities.'

A reservist soldier in the British Army has been appointed national chair for the organisation representing Jewish veterans.

Staff Sgt Dan Fox will take over from Mike Bluestone at the helm of AJEX-JMA (the Association of Jewish Ex Servicemen and Women – Jewish Military Association), following a two-and-a-half year spell, navigating its path through the pandemic.

Fox, an army reservist, said: “It is a great honour to chair AJEX-JMA, which is such an important and historic part of our nation’s Jewish and military communities.

“I look forward to taking forward the incredible work AJEX does on welfare, education, remembrance, and fighting antisemitism.”

Due to the pandemic, AJEX-JMA was forced to cancel its annual remembrance parade at the cenotaph in 2020. It was however able to hold the event in 2021. The organisation built up its digital presence during the pandemic, with more than 25,000 online views of the ceremony in November last year.

AJEX Chief Executive Fiona Palmer said: “We are immensely grateful to Mike Bluestone for his tireless commitment, determination and leadership.

“He helped to guide AJEX during an unprecedented and challenging time.

‘We are delighted to welcome our new Chairman, Staff Sgt Dan Fox, with his skills, knowledge and passion for all that AJEX stands for.

“Dan will help the organisation build on past successes and go from strength to strength.”
