New survey shows racism is on the rise

A survey of up to 3,000 people in Britain has shown that nearly one third admit to being racially prejudiced, researchers have revealed.

The regular study of British social attitudes by research company NatCen found that the proportion holding such race-related views had increased since the start of the century.

It also found wide variations across the country, with fewer than half as many people in London admitting to prejudice than in the West Midlands, where 35 percent admitted to be prejudiced.
