Nicki Minaj accused of ‘glorifying’ Nazi imagery in new video

Controversial music star Niki Minaj is facing a backlash of criticism after appearing to use imagery that glorifies Nazi Germany, in her latest music video for single ‘Only’.

The single features Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and the half-Jewish rapper Drake, has been accused of ‘glorifying Hitler’.

During the video, troops in grey Nazi type uniform march with red armbands, whilst gas masks and tanks appear on the screen next to ‘Young Money’ Symbol YM (Young Money is the name of Lil Wayne’s Production Company).

The use of imagery that evokes a striking resemblance to a that of Nazi Germany has been widely criticised on social media especially. In particular, debate raged on the online forum Reddit, under the titleCMV: The new Nicki Minaj music video “Only” is glorifying Nazism and Hitler

Minaj hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow on Sunday evening, but has not yet responded to the wide ranging criticism.

At one point, Minaj sits on a thrown in front of her troops, flanked on either side by the YM flag, a black symbol on a white circle with a red background.

Minaj, alongside director Jeff Osborne – have been heavily criticised on Twitter.

In the video the group appear to be glorifying Nazi actions rather than criticising them or making an in-depth political statement.
