Noam primary school maintains ‘good’ Ofsted rating

A small Orthodox Jewish primary school in the grounds of Wembley Synagogue has kept its ‘Good’ rating following an inspection only days after the school’s new head-teacher began work.

Chaya Posen, who started work at the independent Noam Primary School at the beginning of January, may have felt like she had been thrown in at the deep end when inspectors turned up just three weeks later.

Inspectors praised the teaching and ability of pupils, the latter “well above average standards in reading, maths and English grammar, punctuation and spelling,” adding that both students’ attitude and attendance was “consistently strong”.

Chair of Goverors Shelley Kelaty said the results, which mirrored Ofsted’s 2013 findings, were a “fitting testament” to outgoing headteacher Sarah Simmonds. “They are a result of her hard work and dedication over the past few years and reflects the solid foundations that she built for our school,” she said.

The £4,300 per year school was established in 1999 and has now received an ‘Outstanding’ grade in the category of ‘personal development, behaviour and welfare’ for the last two inspections.
