Norwood announces plans for £16m upgrade of Ravenswood site

Jewish charity's ambitious project is submitted to Wokingham Borough Council, and will include a major upgrade in both space and facilities

Norwood has announced plans for an ambitious £16million development of its iconic Ravenswood site.

The project, submitted to Wokingham Borough Council, will see a major upgrade to the charity’s Berkshire location and space to support its 111 residents and future occupants.

Additionally, a parcel of land on the Ravenswood site will be released to national housing developer Charles Church. This site will provide 183 new homes, much of it affordable housing, as part of the charity’s plan to create a community that will transform an isolated intentional community for those with learning disabilities into an inclusive part of Wokingham.

Chief executive Beverley Jacobson said: “The plans have been carefully thought through to balance the needs of residents with the desire to align with the national agenda of community inclusion for those with learning disabilities. “The plan includes many exciting elements, from the upgrading of existing facilities – such as the hydrotherapy pool and stables – to the building of new flexible spaces for meetings, workshops and conferences.”
