Staff members at a Jewish respite centre in Finchley were celebrating a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted this week.

Norwood’s Buckets and Spades purpose-built centre provides short overnight breaks for children and young people with complex health needs, and this year’s inspection result comes less than a year after new Home Manager Claire Politzer assumed the role.

“It has been an exciting and challenging six months,” she said. “It is great to see that the hard work of the staff team recognised.”

Inspectors praised the “strong focus on children’s safety and security” adding that “parents trust the staff to keep their children safe in the home and when out on trips”.

They rated the centre as ‘Good’ in all three categories from ‘overall experiences and progress of children and young people’, to ‘how well children and young people are helped and protected’ and ‘the effectiveness of leaders and managers’.
