Ofsted apologise to Stamford Hill school over ‘erroneous’ report

Ofsted has apologised to a Stamford Hill school run by the strictly-Orthodox Belz community after publishing an ‘erroneous’ inspection report.

Beis Malka School received the clarification after a document was published on the education watchdog’s website, without “providing the school with an opportunity to respond to the draft report”. 

The school, which hit the headlines last year after threatening to expel the children of mothers who drove to school, made a number of complaints about the findings.

Following an inspection last June, Beis Malka said the finding were not sent to it for an accuracy check prior to being made public.

The lead Ofsted inspector wrote in response: “I am sorry Ofsted’s procedures were not adhered to and we did not provide an opportunity for you to respond to the draft report.”

School governor Rabbi Dovid Spitzer said: “We strive to be an outstanding school and are working on some of the areas that the original report highlighted. 

“We aim to provide the best possible education to our children.”
