A caseworker from a charity that offers advice, support and education to sexual abuse victims has been shortlisted for an award.

Eve Selfridge is an independent sexual violence advisor (ISVA) who works with men, women and children across Migdal Emunah’s Manchester base at the Nicky Alliance Centre.

The award nomination from safeguarding organisation LimeCulture, acknowledges the outstanding contributions and achievements of individual ISVAs, ISVA Teams and ISVA Managers who have demonstrated excellence, dedication and commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence through their work.

All of Selfridge’s clients have experienced some form of sexual violence or are close to someone that has. As an ISVA, she offers clients emotional and practical support, information about reporting to the police and the different stages of the criminal justice process.

Migdal Emunah’s CEO, Erica Marks, said she was thrilled that Selfridge’s outstanding work had been recognised by a leading national organisation: “Eve works tirelessly to improve the lives of Jewish children and families in Manchester, which is a Kiddush Hashem. The award honours Eve’s extensive work in finding a creative solution to keep children and families safe from online harm, whilst enabling kosher and appropriate digital access, aiding their Kodesh and secular learning.

“It is wonderful that Limeculture organised these awards and in acknowledging Eve’s work, also recognised the needs of the Jewish community. This award means we can support more children and families to keep safe on and offline, which is Pikuach Nefesh (preserving life) as far as we are concerned.”

The winners across all four award categories will be announced by Edward Argar MP, Minister for Victims, during a special ceremony at the National ISVA Conference on Thursday 11 May in Leamington Spa.
