Over 30 Labour whistleblowers to give evidence to watchdog, JLM reveals

The Jewish Labour Movement say they have collected testimonies from current and former Labour staff-members

Over 30 Labour whistleblowers are set to give evidence to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on antisemitism claims, the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM) has revealed.

The membership organisation say they have collected testimonies from dozens of current and former Labour staff-members since September 2018 to hand to the equalities watchdog.

This comes after eight whistleblowers sounded the alarm on alleged interference in Labour’s disciplinary process by Jeremy Corbyn’s office on Wednesday evening’s airing of Panorama.

It is understood that further whistleblowers have come forward to JLM since the BBC programme aired last night.

A JLM spokesperson said: “The testimonies of whistle blowers confirm what we have suspected for some time. The culture and scale of antisemitism within the Party has been perpetuated and exacerbated by those at the very top. Those responsible must be held accountable.

“In the face of legal action, they have demonstrated bravery and integrity in abundance. We’d urge any Party officer or staffer, past or present, to come forward now, and tell us and the EHRC what you know.”

When contacted by Jewish  News, the EHRC said it could not comment on evidence submitted as part of the investigation.

The watchdog announced in May the launch of a statutory investigation into Labour, making it the second party to be probed by the watchdog after the British National Party.

The probe will determine whether the party, its employees or its “agents” unlawfully discriminated against, harassed or victimised Jews.

The Labour Party has been approached for comment but did not immediately respond.
