He engaged in discussions on Israeli current affairs, ‘Jewish peoplehood’ and peace for Israelis and Palestinians, offering insight as the former chairperson of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel.

On a week long trip, he attended events such as the weekly Lishma lunch J-Soc event in Leeds, ‘Tensions in Zionism: Can Israel Survive an Occupation?’ at the University of Cambridge’,  and he was a special guest at LSE and UCL Israel Society’s first event of the term.

Joe Benedyk, Cambridge Jsoc Presiden saidt: “The Shavit event was a real,  special highlight not only because of its powerful, meaningful and multifaceted message,  but also because it offered the audience a significant way in which to frame the whole Israel-Palestine conflict,  debate and discussion.  The room was packed with new Jsoc faces as well as old(er) ones which was a true pleasure to see.”
