A two-year old Palestinian boy who was shot mistakenly by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank has died.

The toddler, Mohammed Tamimi, was shot along with his father Haitham Tamimi, when Israeli soldiers fired at Palestinian terrorists in the settlement of Neve Tzuf on Thursday.

An Israeli military helicopter rushed Mohammed to Sheba Medical Center in the Israeli city of Ramat Gan, while his father was taken to a hospital in Ramallah.

“After an initial inquiry, it was revealed that two assailants carried out a shooting for several minutes toward the community. IDF soldiers identified the shooting and responded with live fire. As a result of the IDF’s live fire, two Palestinians were injured,” the IDF said in a statement after the incident, referring to Mohammed and Haitham.

The IDF regrets harm to non-combatants and is committed to doing everything in its power to prevent such incidents. The incident is under review,” the statement concluded.

At least 110 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank this year, most of whom Israel says were either terrorists or somehow involved in terror activities.
