Paperweight exceeds fundraising target by more than 150 percent

Community's citizens advice bureau receives more than £560,000 in just 36 hours

Almost 4,000 donors helped Paperweight raise £560,000 in just 36 hours last weekend, exceeding the appeal target by more than 150 percent.

The organisation, which supports people at their most vulnerable – after a bereavement, in the middle of a divorce or perhaps a person who is disabled and is struggling to receive the benefits to which they’re entitled. They have 200 caseworkers in London, Manchester and Gateshead able to offer advice.

Chief executive Bayla Perrin said: “The impact of the pandemic will be long-lasting, but thanks to this incredible support, we now have the means to respond to the growing calls on our services. We will also be able to accelerate the implementation of new initiatives that will provide additional relief and protection to our community’s most vulnerable individuals and families.”

The pandemic has seen Paperweight’s caseload triple.
