Four Jewish victims have been named by the umbrella organisation that represents French Jews, CRIF.

The organisation named as Yoav Hattab, 21, who was the son of the Chief Rabbi of Tunis, Philippe Braham, Yohan Cohen, 22 and Francois-Michel Saada, who was said to be in his 60s.

“These French citizens were struck down in a cold-blooded manner and mercilessly because they were Jews,” read the CRIF statement.

One of the hostage takers “came in wearing a bullet-proof vest. He had two Kalashnikov rifles, a gun and a knife”, according to a customer named Marie, in Ynet News. “He shot two people at the entrance. One of the customers tried to take one of his weapons” which was believed to be Yohan Cohen, “but was unable to fire. One of the hostage takers, Amedy Coulibaly “shot him in the head immediately.”

The Super Cacher hostage crisis followed an incident in Paris which resulted in the death of 12 people, when terrorists attacked the Charlie Hebdoe satirical publication, known to be heavily critical of religion.
