Pedal power raises £300k for Norwood

More than 1,400 charity bike riders  took part in the annual Norwood London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday, writes Rachael Goldwater.

Among this year’s riders was Alex Sacks, 13, who took part in the  challenge with dad Gary and grandfather Ivan. Alex, who helped to raised an impressive £2,400, said: “It was brilliant! It feels great to  help Norwood, along with my dad and grandfather.”

Also participating was Aron Coten, 17, from Harrow. He  said: “It was a brilliant day, extremely fun and nice to cycle with my friends.”

Other cyclists included Jimmy Bier, 50, a Stockbroker from Finchley. He said: “I always relish the opportunity to raise money for others.”

The event is on target to reach its goal of raising £300,000.
