Peer knocked out of Wimbledon doubles

Shahar Peer suffered a first round exit in the doubles competition

Shahar Peer’s 2013 Wimbledon tournament lasted just over an hour after she suffered a first round exit in the women’s doubles competition on Monday.

Having received a wildcard entry into the competition, her and Japan’s Zi Yan were up against the tournament’s number five seeds, American duo Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears, and lost the match 6-4, 6-4.

There is though still some Israeli interest left at SW19 with Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich in the men’s doubles tournament.  However, they won’t be teaming up with each other. Ram and his American partner Eric Butorac, have been drawn aganst the number three seeds, Austrian Alexander Peya and Brazilian Bruno Soares, while Erlich and his Italian partner Daniele Bracciali, will face the number four seeds, Indian Leander Paes and Czech Radek Stepanek.

Elsewhere in the men’s singles draw, Canadian Jesse Levine will take on Argentine Guido Pella, while American Wayne Odesnick has been drawn against Jimmy Wang from Chinese Taipei.
