Peers have backed plans to ban a white supremacist group which supports violent race war.

The Lords agreed to proscribe neo-Nazi group Feuerkrieg Division (FKD), which operates across North America and Europe.

The Order proscribing the group has already been approved by the Commons and is due to come into force tomorrow.

The FKD previously shared a list of police buildings and an image of a senior police officer with a gun to his head featuring the words “Race traitor” after a 16-year-old member was held on terror charges in September last year.

Proscribing the group means that anyone convicted of being a member of, or offering support to, the group could face up to 10 years in jail.

Home Office minister Baroness Williams of Trafford said: “FKD is a white supremacist group whose views and ideology stands in direct contrast to the core values of Britain.

“Their actions which seek to divide communities and stir up hatred are entirely contrary to the interests of our nation.

“Proscribing this group will prevent its membership growing and work to stop the spread of propaganda which allows a culture of hatred and division to thrive.

“It will also help prevent FKD from radicalising people who may be vulnerable to extreme ideologies and at risk of emulating the terrorist acts which they glorify.”
