Philanthropist Jonathan Goldstein appointed chair of the Chief Rabbinate Trust

Philanthropist Jonathan Goldstein has been appointed as chair of the Chief Rabbinate Trust.

The chair of Partnership for Jewish Schools will be charged with providing strategic guidance to Chief Rabbi’s Office and assist with fundraising for existing projects including Shabbat UK as well as new initiatives around interfaith and social responsibility.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis said: “I am absolutely delighted that Jonathan Goldstein has agreed to support our work. His reputation as an accomplished businessman, a proud member of the United Synagogue and outstanding community leader goes before him and I very much look forward to working with him on our exciting plans.”

Goldstein, chief executive at Cain Hoy Enterprises, said: “I am honoured to have been asked by the Chief Rabbi to be the Chairman of his Trust. The Chief has made an outstanding impact in his first 2 years in the role and I look forward to supporting him his future endeavours.” He takes over from Peter Sheldon who held the position under Lord Sacks.
