More than 5,000 people braved sub-zero temperatures to celebrate the Festival of Light at the 10th annual Chanukah in the Square on Tuesday night.

Entertained by live music from American a capella sensation The Maccabeats, crowds were fuelled by thousands of free doughnuts, as they sang and danced in Trafalgar Square.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis addressed crowds, as did Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, and Sharon Bar Li from the Israeli Embassy in the UK.

The celebration – organised by the Jewish Leadership Council, London Jewish Forum and Chabad UK and media partnered by the Jewish News – also featured performances from the Marc Levene band and Akiva School choir.
