Some 350 youngsters were cheered on to victory as they crossed the finish line at Norwood’s 2014 Junior Bike Ride and Duathlon.

The sponsored event raised funds for Norwood’s work with vulnerable children and their families and adults with learning disabilities.

Runners and riders – aged five to 16 – followed in the tracks of their sporting heroes, speeding around the course at Aldenham Country Park in Elstree, despite high temperatures.

There were three challenges to choose from: a five-mile bike ride, a 10-mile bike ride and a Duathlon, made up of a 1.5-mile run, a five-mile bike ride and then a final 1.5-mile run.

Norwood’s head of challenges Ian Tate said: “Everyone who took part should feel very proud of themselves. The money raised will do an enormous amount of good.”
