Police call for witnesses after Jewish men pelted with onions

Two Orthodox men were repeatedly attacked by occupants of a passing car in Stamford Hill on Sunday night

Police have appealed for witnesses after two Jewish men were “pelted with onions” from a car near Stamford Hill station.

The incident, targeting two Charedi men, took place on Sunday evening in the Amhurst Park area of Stamford Hill, with volunteer security force Shomrim saying it was an “unprovoked attack”.

As the attack unfolded, around 9.45pm, the two Jewish men split up to divert attention, but the car followed one of them, the occupants pelting the victim with onions and shouting abuse.

The attackers are described as white males, the driver estimated to be in his mid-thirties, with two teenage passengers. The car was described as small and light-coloured.

Anybody with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference CAD2223/05/11/2017.
