Orli’s windows smashed in ‘random’ attacks in Edgware

Police say the smashing of windows at Orli’s kosher restaurant in Edgware appears to have been part of a “random” series of attacks in Edgware today, writes Justin Cohen.

Panic spread online after images circulated of the shattered glass on the shopfront, while police and CST rushed to the scene.

Reports at first suggested shots were fired at the building. It now seems that missiles, possibly marbles, were aimed at the restaurant. Police told the Jewish News that up to four other buildings and cars were targeted.

A Met spokesman said it “appears to be completely random” and there “doesn’t appear to be any obvious motive”.

The CST tweeted: “At this stage we believe it probably wasn’t anti-Semitic but police are investigating”.
