A primary school in north Finchley is celebrating a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted.

Inspectors ranked Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School as ‘Outstanding’ for personal development, reflecting its commitment to providing high academic excellence and support for its students.

The inspection was carried out in July 2023 and highlighted the school’s dedication to an “extensive programme of personal development”, adding that the “approach to developing pupils’ character is exemplary”.

Other areas highlighted by the report included the depth of teachers’ subject knowledge, the development of a broad and ambitious curriculum and the high aspirations that teachers have for their pupils. Ofsted also commended the school for the shared values, friendships and good behaviour all pupils demonstrated.

The report said “pupils build strong relationships with each other” and they “are happy, kind and work together to make the school a lovely place to be”.

It noted the positive impact that their SMART (Simcha, Middot, Achdut, Ruach and Torah) ethos plays in the school’s supportive and inclusive community saying: “Leaders have established a set of shared values that are central to school life”.

Headteacher Rachel Barbanel said: “We are delighted with the OFSTED report. Achieving a rating of ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ in personal development is perfectly aligned with our school ethos and everything we are aspiring to be. We have worked hard to achieve a great quality of education and also to create a supportive and nurturing environment which we continue to build.”
