Premises linked to Roman Abramovich unlawfully searched by Jersey police
Reuters reported that police agreed to paying damages and costs while apologising to Abramovich
Jersey Police admits to having unlawfully searched premises linked to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
According to documents seen by Reuters, police had obtained a search warrant for the premises in April, but now admit that the “the search warrants were obtained unlawfully” according to two sources.
Reuters also reported that police agreed “that the search warrants should be quashed,” while committing to paying damages and costs and giving an apology to Abramovich.
“Mr Abramovich has always acted in accordance with the law, we are pleased that the Jersey Police have conceded in relation to these unlawful and unfounded searches,” Abramovich’s spokeswoman said.
