Pro-Palestine car rally raises concerns about harassment of British Jews
A social media campaign organised by 'Brothers in Unity' announced a rally will set off from East London at 7pm tonight before arriving at Parliament.
There are fears that the horrific scenes of last year when participants of a convoy of cars draped in Palestinian flags screamed rape threats at Jews could be repeated later today when a pro-Palestinian car rally sets off for Westminster.
A social media campaign organised by “Brothers in Unity” announced the rally will set off from Gallions Reach car park in East London at 7pm tonight before arriving at Parliament.
Last year’s incident saw no arrests. To avoid a repeat the community is being asked to increase its vigilance and, if it feels able, to safely help identify participants on video should the express public support for Hamas.
Thousands of people are expected to march in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in central London today as police warn that anyone showing support for Hamas or deviating from the route could face arrest.
The Metropolitan Police Service will deploy more than 1,000 officers to police the demonstration, in which people will be marching in solidarity with Palestine and demanding Israel ends its occupation of Palestinian land, amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
