One of Reform Judaism’s most recognisable rabbis is to leave move out of head office and join the rabbinic team at Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue (EHRS), one of the largest shuls in Europe.

Rabbi Debbie Young-Somers has been Reform’s community educator for several years, following a four-year spell as part of the rabbinic team at West London Synagogue. She graduated from Leo Baeck College in 2009.

This week she said: “I will miss being part of the team growing Reform Judaism up and down the country however I am delighted to be joining the team at EHRS.”

She added: “I am looking forward to walking with the members of the congregation on their Jewish journeys, and to continuing the work of so many others in growing a vibrant and meaningful Reform Judaism in the synagogue building and beyond.”

EHRS was formed in 2017 when Edgware & District Reform Synagogue (EDRS) merged with Hendon Reform Synagogue (HRS). Its membership now includes around 2,500 families.
