Raisman claims second medal at Rio Olympic Games

US gymnast wins silver in the women's individual all-around final.

Aly Raisman won her second medal of the Games on Thursday night

Aly Raisman won her second medal at the Rio Olympics on Thursday night, when she claimed silver in the women’s individual all-around final.

Clocking up 60.098 points, and finishing runner-up to compatriot Simone Biles, the 22-year-old, who earlier in the week captained the US team to gold in the team event, said her ambition was to win silver. “We are like sisters, I told her [Biles] before today, I want you to win and I want second. No one goes into this thinking they can beat Simone, I’m sure most people don’t go into it thinking they can beat Bolt either.”

Claiming she enjoyed performing in what was the best ever arena she’s been in, she added: “Being in Brazil, and not in the USA, you don’t expect many people to be cheering for you or to get a standing ovation so it was very emotional. The crowd — this was the best arena and atmosphere I have ever been in. It was just incredible. It’s a moment I will never forget.”
