SUNDAY MORNING REVIEW

Markiewicz helped himself to four goals – including two stunning efforts, Jonti Aremband scored twice, with Zalmy Cohen also on target, as the side scored seven goals for the second consecutive weeks

Delighted with his side’s performance, Markiewicz said: “I thought that we were yet again fantastic today. Unlike last week, we really controlled the game from beginning to end, they hardly had a shot, I think Robbie, our goalkeeper, had one save to make the entire game. Poor fella, he’s desperate to get into team of the week, or at least a nomination, but if he is only making one save a game then it doesn’t look very likely.

“We made full use of the large pitch, playing intricate football switching the ball beautifully when necessary. We were missing Yisroel Lewis yet again and Dovi Vogel, our captain and vice respectively, as well as Parys Hammond pulling out with what looks like a long term injury, which we wish him all the best with, and yet our strength in depth was enough to still really show what we are made of.”

And looking ahead to what his side can achieve this season, he said: “There’s no doubt we have got off to a flyer and we want to keep up that momentum, clearly after 14 goals in two games and conceding only one confidence is higher than Kanye West’s ego but we also know it won’t be like this every week and we are going to remain grounded.

“It’s a little bit scary to say that there may be more to come from us but in truth I really think there is. This is still only our second game together and we still have players to come back. We want to take it one game at a time, at the same time we are not here to take part, we are here to win and the title is ultimate winning. Talking of our next game, we’re up against Si Linden’s Temple Fortune, who have also won both of their matches. It’s a big game for a few of us at RC as we used to play for him last year at Blizzard and despite the season not going quite to plan he was very enjoyable to play for, so hopefully that will be a cracker.”
