Redbridge are a win away from clinching the title as they defeated last season’s champions to move to within two points of Oakwood.

Steve Summers, Ben Sollosi, Sam Sollosi and Adam Hakimi were all on target for Jon Jacobs side, with them now needing to beat Hendon next Sunday to seal the title.

Oscar Wagner and Alex Bloch scored for Raiders, for whom manager Dan Shafron told jewishnews.co.uk: “I thought it was a great game for the neutral. We battled well and showed great character coming back from 2-0 down to 2-2 early in the second half. We felt we could take advantage of any RJC nerves and go on to get a third, but with Liron coming off injured, it swung the momentum in favour of Redbridge. However, on the balance of play, they deserved to win.

“Whilst this wasn’t the result we wanted to end our league campaign, it was the type of game we needed prior to next Sunday. Jake made some great saves including the penalty at an important moment, Nicky Lewis performed very well in an unfamiliar centre-back role and Liron was simply unplayable. He was a constant threat and who knows how the game would have panned out if he didn’t pick up an injury.

“Redbridge have had an excellent season and deserve all their plaudits. I said it during the week, they’ve been the best team this season. They’ve got a great group, from management to players, and we wish them all the very best going in to their title decider next Sunday.

“As for us, today was a good warm up for our Morrison final next week. We will use this as motivation and continue our preparations before making our trip to Manchester.”

Finchley ended their season in thrilling style as they edged this seven-goal thriller which sees them finish their campaign in fourth spot.

Eli Davila, Sam Kanter, Yoel Deal and Rafi Kon, with the last kick of the game, sealing the dramatic win.

Oakwood had found themselves 3-1 up with 15 minutes to go thanks to goals from Sam Cantor and Daniel Selwyn, though were ultimately denied even a point with City scoring the winning with the final kick of the game.

RC UK FC made sure of third after recording this thumping win.

Player-manager Avi Markiewicz and Jonti Aremband scored two each, with Avi Levy, Zalmy Cohen and Akiva Solomon also all on target.

Markiewicz told jewishnews.co.uk: “We played some good football and bossed the game without ever really leaving second gear and avenged our loss from a few games ago, our worst performance of the season. We moved the ball around well and the key was our central midfield trio who really dominated.

“We scored three or four very nice headed goals and a couple of others that were well worked if not spectacular. All in all a good days afternoon. We have one game left and are hoping to win that to continue our good run of form and end the season on high.”

Joint-manager Jacob Emanuel told jewishnews.co.uk: “I wasn’t at the game unfortunately but turns out it was our worst loss of the season.

“I don’t think we will worry too much about this result, we turned up with much of our squad unavailable and already safe from relegation.

“We didn’t think RCUK would take it so seriously! Onwards and upwards to next season.”
