The game was the start of a six-match run in to decide how Redbridge’s season would be defined. Storm have given Redbridge a problem every time they’ve played them and today was no different with a very sluggish start made by Redbridge. Looking off the pace completely and still on the M25, Storm took an early lead through Avi Markiewicz with a speculative shot that shouldn’t have beaten the goalkeeper.

The tackles were flying in and the game was beginning to boil over with lots of shouting but no amount of skill. The game’s flashpoint saw three people take aim at Sam Sollosi and eventually one of them got his tackle wrong, landed awkwardly and hurt his shoulder. The flare up saw a Storm player booked, which led to the game calming down, though Storm going into the break 1-0 up.

Redbridge boss Jacobs called for a minute’s silence to calm the boys down and made an immediate tactical switch pushing Sam Sollosi out wide left and swapping Richie Caplin over to the right. The game then became a procession as goals from Dean Nyman, James Berkley, Danny Hakimi and Sam Sollosi saw them go 4 -1 up with 25 minutes left. Exhibition stuff followed and Storm were chasing shadows but no further goals were added.

Jacobs said: “Another three points and now a two-week challenge of Hendon in the League and the Morrison so all to play for.”
