Reubens given new lease of life by SOYO owner

A beloved Jewish deli in Baker Street has been given a new lease of life by the restaurateur behind kosher food outlets SOYO and PIZAZA.

Entrepreneur Lee Landau, 32, bought the lease for Reubens last month, which closed down in May after nearly half a century in business.

Owners revealed the kosher institution known for its salt beef sandwiches had “unexpectedly” closed down due to a family bereavement.

Landau runs S Group, the parent company behind several kosher restaurants in north London, such as Delicatessen in Hampstead and Pita in Golders Green.

Reubens is expected to open next month after undergoing a major makeover, including a new restaurant downstairs to open at a later date.

Its new menu will feature deli classics such as salt beef sandwiches, schnitzel and chicken soup, the Evening Standard reported.

Landau said he was “thrilled” to give Reubens “another lease of life, whilst importantly maintaining the integrity of this well-loved institution.”
