Robert Rinder and Eyal Booker show support for Sue Harris Trust

TV Judge Robert Rinder, the comedian Simon Brodkin and former Love Island contestant Eyal Booker were among the entertainers to show their support for the Sue Harris Trust on Monday.

The charity’s Save a Life Party, held with JLGB, in a media partnership with Jewish News, sought to encourage members of the community to request a swab kit and register as a potential stem cell donor.

Booker, who discussed the recent launch of his new fitness subscription platform Empower, demonstrated how to use a swab kit and register as a potential stem cell donor, as he tuned into the virtual event co-hosted by Rinder with JLGB member Cidney Miller.

The two co-hosts were joined by the comedians Joe Bor and Rachel Creeger and Israeli musicians Tova Swed, Bruno Grife and Yermi Kaplan, who performed remotely using the video conferencing platform Zoom.

“It will take you no longer than six minutes to do the whole thing and then you get registered as a donor, and it really is that easy, so I’m going to do my next swab and I’m going to send if off, and hopefully within the next week or so, I will be a donor and on that list and be able to save a life if I’m needed,” Booker said.

Speaking as the event drew to a close, Rinder said: “Really it’s straightforward. I mean, an idiot could do it. I know because I had a go a while ago, and I’ve got no transferrable skills …

“Thank you so much everybody who tuned in and thank you for being here. I have to say, the music and all of our guests, I had a really great time.”

The Sue Harris Trust, named after a Jewish woman who died from myeloid leukaemia aged 34 in 1997, campaigns to recruit potential stem cell donors in the community.
