Roger Waters blasts back against anti-Semitism charge

Pink Floyd star Roger Waters has hit back angrily at suggestions from a Jewish community leader that he was anti-Semitic, recalling how his father fought the Nazis and saying: “Don’t preach to me.”

The rock legend was responding to a jibe last week from Gerald Ronson, chairman of the Community Security Trust (CST), who claimed the musician “insists he is only anti-Israel – and isn’t, of course, anti-Semitic”.

Waters said: “My father died ­fighting the Nazi menace. Do not presume to preach to me about anti-Semitism or human rights. I am not an anti-Semite or against the Israeli ­people. I am a critic of the policies of the government of Israel.”
