The winning Rosh Pinah team

Rosh Pinah triumphed at the latest Maccabi GB school sports tournament after they won the primary schools years 3 and 4 football tournament.

The event, at Mill Hill PowerLeague, comprised of 24 teams, from 12 schools, bringing together in total, more than 220 young footballers.

The tournament saw teams split into four groups, with each playing each other in a league format, the top-two teams in each group qualifying for the knock-out stages.

Both semi-finals were end-to-end games, with Rosh Pinah beating Clore Shalom in convincing style to reach the final, while Kerem earned their final berth by beating HJPS.

The final was a close affair with both sides playing all-out-attack and looking to create a break-through. Kerem had the better of the chances on the Rosh Pinah goal but were unable to take them. Rosh Pinah broke the deadlock with a great strike from Zak Samuels to crown them Maccabi GB Years 3 and 4 Tournament Champions.

The afternoon concluded with the medals presentation and the trophy was awarded to the winning Rosh Pinah team.

MGB’s school and sports coordinator Alex Elf said: “To see 220 young people competing in a Maccabi GB School Sports Tournament is a massive achievement. We are looking forward to future tournaments where we hope the number of participants will keep on rising.”
