Sadiq Khan recommits to ‘tackling antisemitism’ in talks with Jewish leaders

The private meeting focused on 'cohesion, interfaith relations, policing, mental health and issues facing Jewish students on campus'.

Sadiq Khan has recommitted to “tackling antisemitism” during a meeting with Jewish leaders.

The London mayor was joined by Sophie Linden, deputy mayor of London for policing and crime, and Claire Waxman, the capital’s first victims’ commissioner, for talks with representatives of the London Jewish Forum, Board of Deputies, Jewish Leadership Council, CST and UJS.

The private meeting focused on “cohesion, interfaith relations, policing, mental health and issues facing Jewish students on campus”.

Following the meeting, Khan tweeted: “Jewish Londoners have made an immense contribution to our capital. I’m committed to tackling antisemitism and ensuring community representatives are involved in discussions that affect them.”

Andrew Gilbert, Co-Chair of London Jewish Forum, said: “This important gathering gave the community, mayor and his team a chance to discuss concerns.  The mayor has been supportive of the Jewish community and  this meeting showed how focused our mayor is on the community in London, and how much he understands us and our experiences.”
