Sam Katz has signed for Jersey Rugby Football Club ahead of the start of next season.

Joining the club’s 1st XV squad, Katz, who represented GB at the last Maccabiah, has spent the past two seasons at Spanish top-flight side SilverStorm El Salvador. The League’s top point scorer in 2014/15, this season has seen him contribute 348 points, as the club reached the play-offs, as well as winning the Copa del Rey trophy with a 13-9 win over city rivals Valladolid RAC.

He said: “I’m delighted to have joined Jersey RFC. It’s a brilliant club with a great following and I’ll be joining up with a great squad of players. It’s a big step forward for me and will be a real test in a really competitive league (English Championship).

“My aim is to learn from the experience of those around me and take my game to the next level. I’m going to do everything I can to compete for the number 10 (fly-half) shirt and help the team achieve its goals for next year. I can’t wait to get started.”
