Saracens to host eighth Community Fun Run

Allianz Park, the home of Saracens’ rugby club, has been announced as the hosts for this year’s Maccabi GB Community Fun Run.

The eight edition of the Fun Run will take place on Sunday, 22 June, and is widely recognised as the largest sporting fundraiser in the Community with more than 5,500 runners raising more than £750,000 for a number of Jewish charities since its inception.

Last year, more than 1,500 people ran, jogged or walked to raise money for a record-breaking 40 charities. However. this year it is expected to be the biggest Community Fun Run yet as the Barnet Copthall site permits a larger capacity of runners and supporters. There will also be a brand new route, which incorporates the stadium’s state-of-the-art athletics track, allowing for an ‘Olympic finish’ to participants who decide to run the 10km, 5km or 1km races.

Maccabi GB’s Events Coordinator, Emma Nagli, spoke about the new-look Maccabi GB Community Fun Run. She said: “We are so excited to be hosting the 8th Maccabi GB Community Fun Run at Allianz Park. Last year we welcomed over 3,000 people [runners and supporters] to the event who were helping to raise money for a record-breaking 40 Jewish charities. However, this new venue allows for more charities, more runners, more spectators and more ways to help support fantastic Jewish causes. With five months to go until the event, we encourage everyone within the Community to take part in some way and, whether you run the 10km, 5km or 1km, you will be making a big difference.”
