Dudi Sela and Jonathan Erlich claimed impressive wins in Newport on Wednesday evening.

Sela was on court for nearly two hours as he battled past Ivo Karlović to book his place in the last eight at The Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.

The first two sets were decided by tiebreaks – with Sela claiming the first – though the third and deciding set was a more one-sided affair, Sela winning it 6-2. He next faces American Steve Johnson, the world number 45, for a place in the semi-finals.

In the doubles tournament, Jonathan Erlich and New Zealand-Russian Artem Sitak booked their place in the quarter-finals after they claimed a straight-sets 6-4, 6-4 win over Australians Jordan Thompson and Leyton Hewitt. They next face GB’s Ken Skupski and Indian Purav Raja later on Thursday for a place in the last four.
