Sela lands Turkish title

Dudi Sela won his 17th ATP Challenger title on Sunday after he beat Slovenian Blaz Kavcic in the Batman tournament in Turkey.

Squandering a 4-0 lead in the first set, a rain break at the start of the second set was a timely intervention for him as he levelled the match by winning the second set 6-3, before claiming the title by clinching the third set 6-3.

Speaking after the win, he said: “I’m happy to win the tournament. The points I earned here are important for the French Open and Wimbledon. Hopefully I’ll go on playing even better than this week.”

The win saw the 30-year-old break into the top 100 ATP rankings which were released on Monday morning, the Israeli now sitting in 93rd place, which has also guaranteed him a place in the main draw of next month’s French Open.
