Sela misses out on Hall of Fame semi-final

Israeli beaten in straight sets in Newport.

Sela was beaten in the last eight in Newport.

Dudi Sela’s impressive run in the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport was ended on Thursday evening by Marcos Baghdatis.

The Cypriot fourth seed comfortably won the first set 6-2 – winning five of the first six games, though had to battle back from a break down in the second, before winning it 7-5, which he did by winning the last five games of the match.

Sela was using the tournament as preparations for next month’s Olympic Games in Rio, where he will be the first Israeli man taking part in the singles competition since 1992.
